For those looking to challenge themselves further, Level 2 introduces the Axel jump, a thrilling and technically demanding move. We'll break down the technique, offer helpful tips, and guide you through the progression, ensuring you're well-prepared to conquer the Axel off-ice.
Who leads Axel Club?
  • Top Coach Inga
    ($60/hour)
    Inga is a figure skating coach with a 16-year skating background. She is a former member of the Georgian figure skating National team. Inga participated in lots of training camps and seminars led by well-known coaches such as Alexei Mishin, Michael Huth, and the ISU 1st Vice President Alexander Lakernik.

Axel Club Program
The Axel Club is an excellent stepping stone for skaters aiming to progress to more complex jumps like doubles and triples in the future.

Mastering Basic
Introduction to the Axel: Understand the unique forward takeoff that sets the Axel apart from other jumps.
Preparation: Introduce drills focusing on transitions and edge control that are crucial for mastering the Axel’s takeoff and rotation.

Core Techniques
Take-Off Techniques: Emphasize proper body posture, edge control, and timing to achieve optimal lift and rotation.
Landing Techniques: Develop soft, balanced landings with controlled edges to build confidence and reduce impact strain.
Rotation Control: Practice drills to refine air position and alignment for smoother, more consistent rotations during the Axel.

Off-Ice Conditioning
Strength and Power: Focus on leg strength, core stability, and overall body conditioning to aid jump power and control.
Flexibility: Stretching routines to ensure a full range of motion for better jump execution.
Plyometric Drills: Exercises designed to improve explosive power for higher jumps.

Safety and Injury Prevention
  • Emphasis on proper warm-ups and cool-downs to avoid injury.
  • Techniques to strengthen ankles and knees to reduce strain during landings.

  • Skaters will start with basic drills and gradually increase difficulty as their technique improves.
  • The program progresses into more complex drills and introduces a transition into double jumps once the singles are mastered.

You will need

Sneakers, a jump rope, an off-ice spinner (see on the picture - any of these) , stable Internet connection and some space.
