For those looking to challenge themselves further, Level 2 introduces the Axel jump, a thrilling and technically demanding move. We'll break down the technique, offer helpful tips, and guide you through the progression, ensuring you're well-prepared to conquer the Axel off-ice.
Who leads Axel Club?
  • Top Coach Inga
    ($60/hour)
    Inga is a figure skating coach with a 16-year skating background. She is a former member of the Georgian figure skating National team. Inga participated in lots of training camps and seminars led by well-known coaches such as Alexei Mishin, Michael Huth, and the ISU 1st Vice President Alexander Lakernik.

Axel Club Program
The Axel Club is an excellent stepping stone for skaters aiming to progress to more complex jumps like doubles and triples in the future.

  • Proper entry positions and takeoff techniques.
  • How to achieve the necessary pre-rotation and lift.
  • Controlled landings to prevent injury.

Power and Explosiveness
  • Plyometric training for enhanced takeoff strength.
  • Bounding drills to mimic the explosive energy needed for the Axel.
  • Core strengthening to stabilize the rotation axis.

Rotational Speed
  • Off-ice spins for rotational control and speed improvement.
  • Double revolution drills to develop muscle memory.

Progression
  • Skaters will start with basic drills and gradually increase difficulty as their technique improves.
  • The program progresses into more complex drills and introduces a transition into double jumps.

You will need

Sneakers, a jump rope, an off-ice spinner (see on the picture - any of these) , stable Internet connection and some space.

Day 1

Warm Up

Prepares your body

It gradually increases your heart rate and blood flow, preparing your muscles for physical activity.

Reduces injury risk

It loosens your muscles and joints, reducing the risk of strains and pulls.

Enhances performance

It improves your range of motion, flexibility, and coordination, leading to better performance during your training session.

1. Jumping rope (single jumps on two legs)2 sets.-15 repetitions
2. Lunge swing with a grouping -2 sets. 15 repetitions.
3. Spinner rotation -> waltz jump on 2 legs in a grouping - 3 sets. 5 repetitions.
4. Waltz jump left to left -> waltz jump in a grouping- 3 sets. 2 repetitions
5. Axel in a grouping -> twistings -> loop- 4 sets. 2 repetitions.

Cool Down

Reduces muscle soreness

It gradually decreases your heart rate and helps remove waste products from your muscles, reducing post-workout soreness.


Prevents dizziness and fainting

It helps regulate blood flow and prevents sudden drops in blood pressure.


Aids recovery

It allows your body to gradually return to its resting state, promoting faster recovery and reducing fatigue.
